Naneng Heritage Village is a small village nestled in the mountains of Kalinga Province. From Tabuk City, going to Naneng is quite a ride! Using a vehicle will take you 35 minutes to 40 minutes to reach the village.

Naneng Heritage Village is considered the province's oldest village. It was named after the indigenous phrase "naneng," which means "flood." The community, built in the 1920s, was inundated when the Chico River overflowed, but the dwellings survived. As you go throughout town, you'll see that the houses are modest and classic. However, despite their simplicity, they are strong enough to resist typhoons since they are often built of Narra or Yambao wood.

As you set foot in the village, bird chirps and a calm breeze will welcome you. This village is perfect for relaxation and enjoyment. It is tranquil and eco-friendly. Villagers are also friendly wherein they will welcome you and serve food with willingness and happily tour you around the area.

Weaving: The living tradition

Despite the village's modest population, its residents made a sincere effort to maintain its old-town traditions. Their residences and manner of life both bear this out. The village is well-known for its weaving heritage, which dates back to the 18th century.

The process of weaving involves intricate techniques and patterns that have been passed down through generations of skilled weavers. Weaving is not just a practical skill in Naneng heritage village, but also a social activity that brings the community together. Women, in particular, are often the primary weavers and the practice provides them with a source of income and a way to pass down cultural traditions to younger generations.
